THE FIRST SOCIETY OF FREE ENQUIRERS are hereby notified to meet at the CATHEDRAL, heretofore known as the “Federal Street Theatre,” next Sunday at 10 o’clock, A. M. armed and equipped as the law directs, and there wait further orders. The first order of the day will be to choose three auditors to audit the accounts of the past year. The next order will be to caucus for seven Trustees, the present board having stood so long, they have got tired, and have serious notions of sitting down.” The next order will be to make arrangements to present hearts and arms to the memory of the immortal THOMAS PAINE.
The birth day of this patriot of the Revolution, will be celebrated with great splendor. The society and their friends, together with their families, (including females, of course,) will dine together, and close the festivities of the day with a grand ball in the evening.
Our country friends are respectfully invited to join us.
Will the public opinion of Boston, THE city of the pilgrims, tolerate such a desecration of the Sabbath? A ball, Sunday evening, to commemorate the birth of the champion of infidelity, Thomas Paine!!!
