Plans for the celebration at the Thomas Paine Monument, under the auspices of the Thomas Paine National Historical Association, to be held this afternoon at 2.15 o’clock, have been completed, the program, including several prominent speakers, will be given as follows:
Introductory: “Gilbert Vale and His Monument.” W. M. van der Weyde, chairman. President T. P. N. H. A.
Address: “The ‘Ethical’ Teachings of Thomas Paine,” Dr. Henry Neumann, Leader Society for Ethical Culture, Brooklyn.
Address: “Paine’s Contribution to Religious Liberty,” Henry W. Wilbur, Secretary, Religious Society of Friends, Philadelphia.
Song: “The Fairest Name of All.”
Address: “Thomas Paine, Apostle of Political Freedom,” Edward McChesney Sait, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Politics, Columbia University, New York.
Address: “Religion’s Debt to Thomas Paine,” Rev. Edgar Swan Wiers, minister of Unity Church, Montclair, N. J.
The officers of the Thomas Paine National Historical Association are W. M. van der Weyde, President; W. H. Harvey, Treasurer; Harry Weir Boland, Recording Secretary, and Edward Henn, Corresponding Secretary.
